Hour 2 (10.22) Winds likely topping 58 mph snapped palm trees in San Clemente just days after the Norte Fire, and a “gustnado” spun up in Victorville. Plus: Ralphs’ parent company Kroger is cutting 3,000 jobs.

7:05 First the Norte Fire, now this. A violent storm cell tore through San Clemente, snapping a palm and uprooting trees near the municipal golf course. The National Weather Service says it wasn’t a tornado but straight-line winds, likely over 58 mph. After the heat we just went through, we needed the rain.

7:20 Rapper Foenem’s viral Brewer's anthem became the soundtrack of Milwaukee’s NLCS sweep of the Dodgers. How does it stack up against L.A.’s own theme songs?

7:35 Kroger, which owns Ralphs and Food 4 Less, plans to cut about 3,000 corporate jobs over three years as new CEO Greg Foran expands its use of AI. Plus: the latest on a deadly police investigation in Arcadia and Pasadena.

7:50 A “gustnado” spun up near Highway 395 in Victorville as the storm moved through the High Desert. It’s a short-lived whirl kicked up along a thunderstorm’s gust front, not a true tornado.

Thanks for listening to Tim Conway Jr. on KFI! 🎙️
