The state has added another charge of fraud against a lawyer Charlotte Tibana and her husband, a Tshwane Metro Police Department officer, Peter "Gagash" Nonyane, during the bail hearing underway in the Polokwane magistrate's court in Limpopo. NPA says this after a new complaint from the Moetji family. Tibana allegedly transferred more than one-point-three million rand from the estate account. Tibana and Nonyane allegedly defrauded four estate accounts of more than four million rand. It's alleged that part of the funds were used to buy a luxurious vehicle. State witness Colonel Daniel Makuwa is on the stand opposing bail.

INTRO:  The IEC has called on traditional leaders to assist it in its preparations ahead of the local govenment elections. The Electoral Commission met with the leadership of the Congress of Traditional Leaders (CONTRALESA) today (26/08) in Kempton Park, on Gauteng's East Rand. The engagement, which saw the electoral management body share its elections roadmap up until November 4 with the country's kings and queens, forms part of its ongoing outreach programme aimed at bringing stakeholders on board in relation to its work.

The Madlanga Commission has questioned attempted murder accused and businessman Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala about his relationships with senior police officials. Matlala testified about his relationship with former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head General Lesetja Senona, suspended deputy national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya. He was also probed about a meeting he had with KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, which he says was arranged by former Police Minister General Bheki Cele.
