The trial-within-trial over the admissibility of a confession statetement by accused number one, Zachariah Olivier, is set to continue when the matter is back in court. The investigating officer Captain Phaladi Makola will resume on the stand. Olivier and his co-accused William Musora, shot and killed Maria Makgato and Kudzai Ndlovu at Onverwacht farm outside Polokwane in August 2024. The women's bodies were disposed in the pigsty. New figures released by Statistics SA paint a worrying picture of the gap between the rich and the poor, showing that too many people are still being left behind. Many families still face daily hardship, with children, young people, women, the elderly and people living with disabilities among the most affected.
