The Mopani District Municipal Council has resolved to dismiss its Chief Financial Officer, Sibongile Mathebula, following a formal disciplinary hearing into allegations of financial misconduct. The state President Cyril Ramaphosa has approved a category two official provincial funeral for the late hosi Phylia N'wamitwa II. Hosi N'wamitwa II of the Valoyi clan outside Tzaneen in Limpopo, passed away after an illness last week. She is the first female chief among the Vatsonga/Machangana to ascend the throne in August 2008. She had challenged the patriarchal system in the Constitutional Court. She will be laid to rest at N'wamitwa on Sunday. Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has welcomed the president's declaration for official funeral for hosi N'wamitwa II. The South African Municipal Workers Union, SAMWU, says the City of Ekurhuleni should have vetted senior EMPD officers before the ones in lower ranks. The union has  slammed the City for vetting over three-thousand EMPD officers without necessary consultation. The vetting process which began on Monday comes after witnesses that  testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry made allegations of corruption in the EMPD.
