Hundzukani Primary School, located in Huntington village near Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga, has been serving the community since 1964. Recently, the school's aging infrastructure prompted engagement between the School Governing Body (SGB), the Department of Education, and the local community. Following a directive from the department, most of the classrooms were demolished to make way for new buildings, leaving only two classroom blocks—one with two classrooms—while the rest of the space is now used for staffrooms and storerooms. As a result, learners are currently studying outdoors under trees, raising concerns about weather conditions during the rainy season. The community has appealed to the department for mobile classrooms as an interim solution and highlighted ongoing issues with learner nutrition, noting that on the first day of school, no food was provided, leading to early closures. The situation remains a challenge for the school and its surrounding community as they await further support.
