The Constitutional Court has sent the case of Nkosinathi Makate's "Please Call Me" and Vodacom back to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, Free State. The Apex Court handed down its judgment in the drawn out legal battle in Johannesburg on Thurday. The case has dragged on for more than  two decades. It centres around Makate's invention of the 'Please Call Me' service in November 2000, which allows users to send free call-back requests. Minister Godongwana told Members of Parliament that government remains committed to stabilising debt, narrowing the budget deficit and rebuilding credibility after years of financial strain. Analysts have also welcomed the national budget's strong focus on protecting South Africa's financial system from crime. The Federation of Unions of South Africa, FEDUSA, has declared its full solidarity with COSATU and public sector unions protesting against steep contribution increases imposed by the Government Employees Medical Scheme(GEMS). FEDUSA says public servants have faced medical aid hikes of over 23 percent in recent years, squeezing workers already under financial strain. The federation has demanded urgent feedback from GEMS within seven days, warning that further action will follow if concerns are ignored. FEDUSA says public servants are united in defending their dignity and their right to affordable healthcare.
