INTRO: COSATU has expressed dismay at the gazetted salary increase for members of Parliament, Provincial Legislatures and Municipal Councils. The Federation says it is disappointed that government has only slightly reduced the salary increase for politicians of four point one percent that was recommended by the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers to three point eight percent. Parliamentary Coordinator Matthew Parks says while they are irritated by the salary increase of politicians and judges, they support the adjustment of magistrates' salaries. He says most galling is the inclusion of more than nine thousand- three hundred  municipal councillors under whose watch the state of municipal finances and services has deteriorated at an alarming rate ...

INTRO: The Mpumalanga Department of Health has announced that 67 health facilities across the province have been affected by the recent floods. This includes five hospitals that were hit by the heavy storms. One of the affected hospitals is Lydenburg Hospital in the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality, which sustained roof damage, resulting in leakages in some ward passages. Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini, visited the hospital to assess its condition. Michael Mdluli compiled and Ntinyiku Maringa reports...
