FOCUS: The Presenter interviews Zanele Sabela, about COSATU's views & recction on the '2026 SONA'.
INTRO:
President Cyril Ramaphosa has vowed to wage war on gangs in Gauteng and the Western Cape, end the country's devastating water crisis and raise 2 trillion rand of investment in the next five years. These are some of the promises he made in his 20 page State of the Nation Address delivered in Parliament last night. President Ramaphosa's annual address to the nation was a report back on the progress made to grow the economy, end poverty and create jobs as well as making South Africa a better place to invest and to do business.
After painting a picture of a glimmer of hope of better things to come, the president was also alive to the difficulties the country is grappling with. He was unrelenting on government's failure to provide safe, reliable and clean water insisting that serious interventions are in the offing. The president also said the harrowing and spine chilling evidence at the Ad Hoc Committee and the Madlanga Commission will not go unpunished. And a maximum protection is also promised to all those who helped to lay bare all this shocking revelations in both processes and many others. On Tuesday and Wednesday MPs will debate his speech with him expected to respond on Thursday.
