A grade 3 pupil from Flora Park Comprehensive Primary School in Polokwane, Limpopo is among young chess players set to represent South Africa in the Commonwealth Chess Championship Tournament in Sri Lanka . Eight-year-old Ntokoto Mashava is part of a group of 20 chess players aged eight that will participate in the tournament in May. The family of a missing two year old girl child from the Ga Mabuela village outside Mokopane in Limpopo are devastated. The 2 year old Omphile Sethole dissapeared from her room in the early hours of Saturday morning.  According to Omphile's grandmother - she woke up at six o'clock to found the window open.

Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela,  has officially placed the National Student Financial Aid Scheme - NSFAS - under administration. This follows the resignation of two board members, including acting chairperson Mugwena Maluleke. Professor Hlengani Mathebula has now been appointed as administrator of NSFAS. This follows the the death of three- people, with three- others falling ill- with the virus, following an outbreak on a Netherlands-based cruise ship.
