The suspended Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Shadrack Sibiya, says he has taken phone calls from controversial businessman Brown Mogotsi and met with him for breakfast. Sibiya is the third witness to appear before Parliament's Ad Hoc committee, that was established to investigate allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interfence in the justice system made by KwaZulu Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. Sibiya has told MPs that Mogotsi had called him to warn him that he is under surveillance by Crime Intelligence, even though he was already aware of it. Sibiya explains why he continued to take Mogotsi's calls and even met up with him.
