INTRO: The South African Human Rights Commission has come under fire from members of the public, who accused it of prioritising the rights of undocumented foreign nationals over that of South Africans'. The commission held a virtual Imbizo to discuss concerns raised by citizens over undocumented foreign nationals. Some members of the public also questioned why the Imbizo is being held now, saying it comes at a time when communities are taking to the streets against undocumented immigrants.

Today is Africa Day, this day is being celebrated every year on 25 May. The day marks the formation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, now known as the African Union. It is a day when we celebrate the unity and diversity of African people. It reminds us of our shared history, identity, and the vision of African solidarity.But in South Africa, this year's commemoration comes at a time when there are protests in some communities over undocumented foreign nationals. Some residents say they are concerned about jobs, crime, safety, and government control of borders, raising  questions about migration, economic hardship, and African unity.
