Ten members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) are set to appear in the Germiston Magistrate Court on Tuesday. They face allegations of corruption and theft stemming from an operation at a shop in Edenvale on the 4th of June. According to reports, the officers allegedly seized cigarettes, took 30-thousand rand in cash, and three packs of Panados worth 30-thousand rand during the raid. Independent Police Investigate Directorate (IPID)spokesperson Lizzy Suping says the officers were arrested for trading illicit cigarettes and violating immigration rules.
