EFF president Julius Malema told parents at a mass funeral in Vryheid in northern KwaZulu-Natal that their loved ones, who died in a horror bus crash are heroes of the struggle against oppression. 
A mass funeral service was held for seven of the ten victims of Monday's fatal crash between a bus and a truck near Ulundi on the R34. The deceased were EFF members, who were heading home after attending a youth day rally in Durban. The families of the three other deceased, chose to bury their loved privately.
