INTRO: The Gauteng Traffic Police has raised concern over incidents involving taxi patrolling groups allegedly stopping, threatening and harassing motorists on roads across the province. This follows reports of motorists allegedly being stopped by taxi monitoring groups over suspicions that they transporting passengers. In some cases, motorists are allegedly forced to pay money before their vehicles are released to them. Authorities have reminded taxi operators that only law enforcement officers are legally permitted to stop and inspect vehicles.
