Marking four decades since its founding in 1985, the federation reflected on its role in the anti-apartheid struggle and its victories for workers, as well as a steady decline in membership, driven by job losses and a rapidly changing labour market. President Zingiswa Losi used the event to urge alliance partners to close ranks ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

The Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSPS) and the Black Women Caucus will today run an awareness campaign in Bushbuckridge as part of the 16 Days of Activism. This campaign is happening because many domestic violence cases are being reported in the area.
