INTRO: Soldiers have arrived in Riverlea in Johannesburg this morning. This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced during his State of the Nation Address last month, that the military will be deployed in areas riddled by gang violence and illegal mining activities, to support the police.

INTRO: The Department of Education in Mpumalanga has received more than 30 billion rand, which is 43.4 percent of the province's budget for the new financial year. Finance MEC Bonakele Majuba, says the department should use 105-million rand for the repair of school infrastructure damaged during the recent heavy rains, the provision of mobile classrooms and to alleviate overcrowding. Majuba delivered the province's new financial year budget at the Mpumalanga Legislature yesterday.

Finance MEC of Kgabo Mahoai says they will ensure that infrastructure damaged in the floods at the beginning of the year is repaired. Mahoai was tabling the 2026/2027 budget in Lebowakgomo today. The overall budget now sits at over 95 billion rand.
