INTRO: COSATU has welcomed the gazette that Employment and Labour Minister Nomakhosazana Meth has signed. It empowers labour inspectors to enforce the payment of any contributions deducted from workers' salaries to the relevant fund within seven days along with the employers' contribution. The move targets employers who deduct contributions from workers' salaries but fail to pay the relevant entities. Fifteen-thousand employers defaulted last year, affecting 600- thousand workers.
