FOCUS: MEC for Finance in Limpopo, Kgabo Mahoai has re-tabled the 2025/26 Provincial Budget.

INTRO:
The MEC for Finance in Limpopo, Kgabo Mahoai has re-tabled the 2025/26 pprovincial budget, which is still sitting at over 88-point-9 billion rand. This is similar to the first budget he tabled in March this year. The re-submission of the provincial budget follows the tabling of the national budget for the third time in May. The provincial Finance MEC, has emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline as a cornerstone of the financial strategy. The allocations across all twelve departments and entities remain unchanged as announced on 25 March 2025. The Department of Education is still receiving the biggest share of the provincial budget, followed by the Department of Health in the 2025/26 financial year. Mahoai says the government must remain vigilant against fiscal leakages and inefficiencies that threaten its limited resources. Meanwhile some opposition parties in the province, have expressed mixed reactions to the budget. Economic Freedom Fighters' deputy provincial secretary, Dunani Baloyi has cautioned against the mismanagement of public funds. And Democratic Alliance MPL, Jacques Smalle also shares the same sentiments.
