The Gauteng Liquor Traders Association expressed strong opposition to proposed liquor licence fee increases by the Gauteng Liquor Board, warning that the move would place additional financial strain on township-based liquor traders. The association argued that many small business owners were already battling regulatory delays, administrative red tape and rising compliance costs. It further maintained that the planned increases could threaten the sustainability of small liquor outlets across Gauteng if proper consultation and support measures were not implemented.
