A new documentary explores the legal struggles female survivors of violence experience when legal action is used as a weapon to silence an individual’s right to speak.
The documentary “Silenced” profiles the work of human-rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson as she represents female clients experiencing the trauma involved in participating in rigorous court cases and enduring relentless public scrutiny.
While over the last decade there seems to be a lot more done to promote awareness about gendered violence in the community this film explores when it comes to the legal system many women are still being let down.
Stephen Hill asked the film’s producer Blayke Hoffman what drove her to cover this difficult topic matter.
