First Nation artefacts have been found beneath the sea at Murujuga in north-western Australia. It is estimated these artefacts were used 9,000 years ago by First Nations people, before the land was submerged. Researchers have worked with the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation rangers to locate and document the findings.

The artefacts range from simple tools to a freshwater spring which Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation Rangers say is still sung about in song lines today.

Indigenous Senior Ranger Richard Variakojis says the discovery goes to show how long First Nations people have been using the land.
