Acoustic monitoring may help in tracking cane toad spread

View descriptionShare

New research has uncovered rare insights into cane toad breeding behaviour, providing hope in preventing their further expansion across Australia.

Ecology researchers from James Cook University analysed over 400 thousand hours of night-time audio recordings via acoustic monitoring to identify locations of where toads like to call and breed.

So how can this research help us understand the conditions influencing breeding of invasive species, such as the cane toad?
