Waste collection services have been disrupted across several parts of Johannesburg as casual workers contracted to Pikitup continue their protest, demanding to be permanently absorbed by the entity. The action has led to the blockading of several Pikitup depots, preventing waste collection trucks from operating and leaving rubbish uncollected in affected areas. Pikitup says it is working to resolve the impasse, while the protesting workers insist their concerns have gone unheard.

Guest: Jabu - spokesperson for the protesting casual workers

Guest: Thobani Nkosi, Regional Secretary of SAMWU in Johannesburg
