The ROSE Foundation — which stands for Recycling Oil Saves the Environment — was established by the oil industry in 1994 specifically to help prevent environmental pollution from used oil. The Foundation says just one litre of used oil can contaminate up to one million litres of water. But this waste can also be recovered and recycled into products ranging from base oil and industrial furnace fuel to black-ink ingredients. The sector also supports approximately 2,500 livelihoods through its collection, storage and recycling network.
