Good news for South Africa’s health research sector. The world’s largest research funder, the US National Institutes of Health, has lifted its ban on funding South African projects. According to reports, the funding was worth almost USD$450 million or R8 billion and funded research infrastructure, clinical trials as well as non-communicable disease research (HIV, TB, etc).
