Eskom’s proposed 8.83% electricity tariff increase for 2027/28 is facing growing public opposition, with a petition by the Better Governance Initiative now attracting more than 5,700 signatures. The petition is calling on Nersa to reject the increase, arguing that electricity costs have already risen sharply while households and small businesses continue to face financial pressure
