BIO - Dr. Brenda Thiam
Brenda is a passionate special educator of nearly 25 years. Her fondest memories are of teaching students who have autism. She is originally from North Carolina but chose to move to Hagerstown, by way of other cities. Her family found a better quality of life in Hagerstown. She comes from humble beginnings. She was raised by a single mother of five children, no heat in her childhood home, and living in the projects during her high school years. She set high but attainable goals for herself because her mother required it. As a State Delegate, Brenda worked with the leaders through Maryland 6th Congressional District.
As a District, our community stands ready to embark upon a prosperous, safe, and healthy future for everyone. Brenda always put the people of Hagerstown first and will do the same for the people of Maryland 6th Congressional District. Great leadership is not afraid to challenge the existing status quo. She understands that there is value in thinking outside of the box. As a State Delegate in Annapolis, Brenda had the reputation of being a dedicated and focused problem solver and, she believes that the hyper partisan political games in session only serve as a distraction from the people’s work.
Brenda is a dedicated and passionate resident of Hagerstown. As a State Delegate, she reached out to constituents by door knocking, sending letters, meeting with them or simply striking up a conversation at church or the grocery Store. She knows the value of the constituent’s time and she knows that every person in Hagerstown brings something to the table. Brenda was a Delegate who was willing to engage with the residents of her district. She knows that wiser spending, results driven bipartisan cooperation, and professional problem-solving result in an economic, effective, and efficient Maryland government. All the while creating a prosperous business climate and a brighter future for both Hagerstown and the State of Maryland.
