Brian talks with Nathan Walton about his new book, Embodying God's Multiethnic Kingdom: Live Out the Diversity of Heaven Every Day. Nathan shares the story behind the book — a conference attendee's observation that even in diverse churches, congregants often retreat to segregated daily lives after the service ends — and argues that racial reconciliation must extend beyond Sunday into the everyday rhythms of life. He unpacks his "four R's" framework: residence (where we choose to live and engage civically), recreation (the often-segregated spaces of our social lives, from coffee shops to gyms), resources (using money and social capital for racial justice), and religion (letting this commitment shape a broader "rule of life" touching age, disability, politics, and class, not just race). Nathan grounds the urgency of the topic in Jesus's prayer in John 17 that the church would be one, arguing that pursuing multiethnic community isn't just a costly duty but a missed opportunity for delight and witness when neglected.

The idea of “the common good” has a rich history within the Christian church. It’s the notion that, as we pursue Jesus in our lives and in the lives of others, we are fulfilling God’s purposes for His creation. This pursuit can be messy. It means rolling up our sleeves and creating space for hard conversations about real issues that impact our lives. Things like parenting, marriage, finances, politics, art, and culture. On The Common Good, Brian From creates space to have these conversations, to sit with the big questions that we all have, to sometimes disagree, but to always look for the chance to create common good, by following after Jesus. Brian welcome listeners to join them in these conversations, to bring their own questions, hopes, and struggles, and to ultimately share in a journey to see God’s design for all of us fulfilled.
