Award-winning social entrepreneur, CA(SA) and CEO of No-Valo Learning Centre, Zanele Maduna, joins the show to share how she is tackling this crisis head on. Having reached more than 10,000 students and professionals through learning and training programmes, and drawing on her own personal experience of finding hope and escape in a book she read in Grade 9, Zanele understands better than most what literacy can mean for a young person's life. Her No-Valo Foundation is also set to open the Zanele Maduna Knowledge and Wellness Hub at Esokwazi Secondary School in Sebokeng on 12 September 2026, combining a restored library, counselling room and wellness space for Grade 8 to 12 learners, just in time for International Literacy Day. This is the kind of work that changes the trajectory of a nation.
