Childhood cancer does not only affect the child. It affects the entire family, bringing with it the weight of transport costs, accommodation, meals, time away from work and prolonged hospital stays that can push even the most resilient families to breaking point. Cupcakes of Hope exists to lift exactly those pressures, and since 2012 the organisation has supported 10,000 children and families through financial assistance, emotional support and Hospital Care Bags delivered to families who need them most.

Dr Natasché Daniels, general practitioner, childhood cancer survivor and patron of Cupcakes of Hope, joins the show ahead of National Cupcake Day 2026 on Saturday 26 September, where more than 80 shopping centres, schools, workplaces and communities will be participating in one of South Africa's most heartwarming fundraising campaigns. Last year more than 2,400 Cupcake Angels raised over R2 million, and this year the goal is even bigger. For Dr Daniels, this is not just a cause. It is personal. And she joins us to share why every cupcake sold, every rand raised and every practical pressure lifted gives a child and their family the space to focus on what matters most, healing.
