Get It Off Your Chest
The countdown to Wednesday’s local government elections is on, and the Electoral Commission of South Africa says voting stations are ready. Polling stations will officially open at 07:00, but before general voting begins, registered voters who successfully applied for special votes will get the chance to cast their ballots.
In the Free State alone, there are more than 1.5 million registered voters and over 132,000 approved special vote applications, spread across 1,604 voting stations that the IEC is preparing to manage.
David, Media Liaison at the IEC, joins the show to give an update on the commission’s operational readiness and the arrangements in place to make sure every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right.
