It’s no secret that Australia’s aged care sector has issues. Even before COVID, allegations of misconduct from negligence to downright abuse were uncovered in the Royal Commission into Aged Care. 

So fixing the system is set to be a deciding issue this federal election. Workers say they’re understaffed and fed up. 

And now, industrial action is looming over pay and conditions. More than 7000 United Workers Union members employed at aged care providers across three states have voted to cease paperwork, endorse strikes and speak to journalists.
