WA schools will shut for next week’s public holiday to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth II, while the impact on shopping hours and hospital services remains unclear.

The Education Department confirmed schools would be closed on Thursday, September 22, meaning camps and mock exams that clash are being hastily rearranged.

Schools will then reopen for one day — Friday, September 23 — before closing again for the following two weeks for the term three school holidays.
