Public school teachers have voted to accept a 2.75 per cent pay rise in each of the next two years, becoming the first government workers to reach an in-principle agreement since the McGowan Government’s $1000 pay-cap was abolished.
Principals will now also be eligible for “compensatory leave” under the first such agreement in the country, which recognises the additional time and workload school leaders face when dealing with extraordinary incidents like a student death or a cyclone.
