Police are investigating a series of terrifying home invasions and sex assaults in the Goldfields overnight during which several women were attacked.

Kalgoorlie detectives say the attacks occurred in the Kalgoorlie and South Kalgoorlie areas between 1 and 3am on Monday morning.

Police - who will release more information about the incidents later on Monday - currently have a man in custody assisting with the investigation.

Detectives are urging anyone with information relating to the incidents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.

People reporting information to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous if they wish.
