Less than two months after the Federal Government slashed the fuel excise, prices are on the rise again. The average price jumped to $1.88 a litre yesterday - the highest since the end of March.  And the pain at the pump is set to continue, with prices tipped to hit between $1.85 and $1.90 a litre this fortnightly price cycle. 

But the price hike has been met with confusion by motorists, who hoped the slashing of the excise meant there was some relief at the bowser in sight.
