The Reserve Bank of Australia is tipped to make history, with experts saying it will raise interest rates for the fourth consecutive month.

An interest rate hike of half a percentage point could bring the cash rate to a six-year high of 1.85 per cent, which Treasurer Jim Chalmers said will make life harder.
