A female pedestrian was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car on a busy Scarborough road during peak-hour traffic at about 6pm.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old P-plater, was driving his red Holden Commodore down West Coast Highway when he allegedly struck the 29-year-old pedestrian near Manning Street.

The impact smashed the vehicle’s windscreen, but neither the driver or the passenger were injured.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
