Three seafarers have been lucky to escape with their lives after their yacht overturned in treacherous conditions off Jurien Bay early on Tuesday.

The drama in WA’s north-west started when one of the men aboard the 11.5m yacht started to feel sick and the vessel encountered fuel issues.

The trio had left Carnarvon on Monday and were heading to Perth.

Marine Rescue Jurien Bay bosun Mike Cockburn said he received a call about 1am informing him that an EPIRB emergency device had been activated.
