WA has been living under level 2 restrictions since the beginning of the month. Measures that were put in place in anticipation of the Omicron wave sweeping the State. But it seems the tidal wave of infections expected to overwhelm our hospital system may not materialise.

Government modelling is predicting we will hit the peak of the wave this week, and despite the number of people in hospital increasing over the weekend, there were just five in intensive care with both case and testing numbers falling from Friday.  

The relatively low number of infections especially in comparison to the Omicron waves seen in the Eastern States has some calling for an end to the restrictions. Shadow Health Minister Libby Mettam is among them.
