If you’re bought a big ticket item at a retail chain, the chances are pretty good a staff member has tried to flog you an extended warranty. Pay a bit extra and get your purchase covered for years into the future. But are those warranties worth the paper they’re printed on?

That's a question being raised in a new class action against retail giant JB Hi-Fi.
