Cyclone Seroja devastated the popular holiday town of Kalbarri on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Around 70 percent of homes were damaged, families were left homeless and the cleanup bill was estimated at around $200 million. 

Mel Pexton has overseen that mammoth recovery effort, she’s State recovery controller and head of the State Recovery Coordination Group for DFES, and has worked tirelessly to help the town, the people and businesses.
