Tiktok has quickly become the social media platform of choice for millions of people around the world - turning creators into superstars and making businesses scramble to tap into its viral marketing potential.

But not everyone is so enthusiastic about it’s oversized presence in the media landscape.

The CEO of a German media giant has just told a conference that he fears TikTok is essentially spyware for the Chinese government, and that his business doesn’t use it, because he believes Beijing will steal  corporate secrets and personal data.

But is this a warning or just fear mongering?
