A home in Hillarys has sustained significant damage after a car ploughed through its car port.

Police said the Nissan X-Trail was travelling south along Mawson Crescent, approaching Flinders Avenue, when the vehicle left the road and hit the rear of a Nissan Qashqai 4WD, parked under a car port.

The Nissan Qashqai was pushed forward, hitting a brick wall before coming to a stop inside a room of a home on Flinders Avenue about 5.45pm on Wednesday.
