The State’s top health official is warning West Australians they could soon need to test themselves for reinfection a month after catching COVID — not the 12 weeks health authorities currently advise.

WA chief health officer Andy Robertson said that being infected with COVID did not make people immune from other strains of the disease, with reinfections now occurring as early as four weeks.

Current WA Health advice is that “there is a small risk of re-infection” within a 12-week period.
