An eight-year-old boy threw the first punches in a senseless, unprovoked alleged bashing of an unsuspecting 91-year-old stranger which left him with shocking injuries including fractures to his cheek and eye.

The great-grandfather and his 86-year-old female friend were leaving Rockingham’s Cruising Yacht Club after a night out on Friday when, without warning, the child opened the car door and punched him in the head several times.

The alleged assailants were strangers to the victim and there had not been any prior interaction between them before the alleged sickening assault.
