Cast your mind back to this time last year. We were in the middle of COVID, about to head into phase 5 restrictions, and Albany had experienced a weather event the Albany SES manager said was the worst damage he’d seen in decades. Just a few months earlier, WA’s Midwest was rocked by cyclone Seroja. 

Closer to home in Perth, we had flooding, strong winds and damaged homes.

It’s now been revealed that weather has led to a 66 per cent spike in insurance claims.

To help explain what that means for us is NRMA Insurance meteorologist, Dr Bruce Buckley.
