The teenage detainee behind a terrifying plane ordeal in which he allegedly ran at a pilot mid-air was being transported to Perth after being charged over a high-speed chase, it can be revealed.

WA Police confirmed in a statement the 17-year-old was linked to both incidents in Broome, saying he remained locked up in the Kimberley while “appropriate custody arrangements” were made.

The teenager was being transported after appearing in Broome Children’s Court on Tuesday in relation to Monday’s high-speed chase incident, police confirmed.
