Police have been forced to shoot dead a family dog after it attacked its owners in Baldivis on Sunday.

Police were reportedly called to the home after the dog - a three-year-old Blue Heeler named Ace - had bitten one of its owners on the arm and throat.

When police arrived, the dog attacked another two family members which prompted police to pull out their guns and shoot it twice.
