A woman charged over the death of her partner in Alkimos earlier this month has had her manslaughter charge upgraded to murder.

Brittany McCulloch was due to next face court in September, however, early Friday morning police revealed they had upgraded her existing charge of unlawfully killing her partner Jordan Chas Caine under such circumstances as not to constitute murder, to murder.

As a result, the 28-year-old will face Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday.
